What? Why can't I use inforegion.in.ua?

On January 24, 2012, the United States House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA). Also, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) has returned for revision in February. If these bills pass, they will change the Internet, for the worse.

SOPA and PIPA would give the United States Government the power to censor websites that host copyrighted content, force search engines such as Google to remove all links to said websites, and prevent DNS servers from resolving those websites' domain names. They are a huge threat to the openness and freedom of the Internet, and many of the powers given to the US Government under the bills threaten the very infrastructure and stability of the Internet itself.

If we let these bills pass, many of the websites you use every day are at risk of being unfairly censored or effectively shut down.

In response, the inforegion.in.ua administration has decided to join other sites such as Wikipedia and Reddit in blacking out today in protest of these bills. We urge you to protest SOPA and the PROTECT IP Act. Click here to contact your representative if you live in the US and urge them to oppose PIPA and SOPA.

(Don't worry, we'll be back online tomorrow)
